East Boothbay

East Boothbay is well-known world-wide in the boat building communities. This age's old craft is thriving throughout the region as well. When it comes to the "big guys," Washburn & Doughty builds on. In the days of WWII, the yard was known for constructing mine sweepers, today they continue to build steel and aluminum vessels and offer dockside repair and design services. In May of 1968, the replica of the schooner yacht America was built in East Boothbay for the Schaefer Brewing Company. Hodgdon Yachts has continued a family tradition for a century now. In 1999, the yard was commissioned to build the 124 ft. Schooner Antonisa, and in 2003, the Scheherazade, measuring out at 157.4ft. – the largest vessel to slide down their ways.

The East Boothbay's Ocean Point area offers excellent rocky Maine coastline for walking, tide pool exploration, and the perfect vantage point for taking in the islands, lighthouses, boat traffic, sea birds, and salt air. One of the Boothbay Region Land Trust properties can be explored as well.
