For over 50 years, the BHRCC has been a 501-C-6 voluntary organization whose membership is comprised of over 400 business entities and Friends of the Chamber in the communities of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, East Boothbay, Edgecomb, Monhegan, Newcastle, Southport, Westport, Woolwich and Wiscasset. The mission of the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce is to promote a positive business climate by focusing on advocacy, access and leadership.

  • Locally: The chamber works with the Board of Selectmen and town managers from each of the towns in our region on initiatives that promote economic development including public restrooms, water, parking, health care and other issues including becoming a “Certified Business Friendly” region.

    Regionally: The chamber is working with Mobilize Midcoast Maine which is a local leadership driven initiative that maps regional assets and industry cluster value chains which will become the foundation for a statewide Community and Economic Development strategy.  The chamber is also a member of Midcoast Chamber Council (MC3) which promotes the region with an information hotline, SeeLife! MidCoast Guide, a website, Facebook page, Bi-weekly blogs, tweets, print ads, posters, information kiosks and displays.

    Statewide: The chamber works with the Maine Sports Commission whose primary goal is to strengthen efforts to attract national and regional sporting events.  The chamber also works with the Governor’s office, the Maine Office of Tourism, CruiseMaine and other entities to promote the region.

    Business After Hours (BAH):  Hosted by chamber members, BAH is an opportunity to network with other chamber members and learn more about their businesses. Held in the spring, summer and fall, Wednesday evenings from 5:00 -7:00 pm it is a great way to network and learn the latest updates from the chamber.  Attendance ranges from 45-125 people!     Chamber Network Connections:  The chamber monitors and networks with other Maine chambers including the Midcoast Chamber Council on issues impacting our local business community.  We also partner with the Maine State Chamber to offer money/time saving programs legislative alerts and grass roots advocacy.

    Member to Member E-Network: An advantage of being in the Chamber is that we can connect you directly with another member(s) if you cannot make it to a Business After Hours.     Workshops and Forums: The chamber facilitates special educational programs in marketing & social media, customer service and seminar opportunities to help enhance, improve and promote your business.

With each featured story, let’s start weaving together our collective narrative, our unique quilt that binds us all together and stretches the tapestry across our region - from Woolwich to Southport.   • Our weekly Chamber Connections e-newsletter is sent to all members and others who have expressed interest in keeping up with us on a weekly basis, reaching over 900.. It is sent out twice a month from Memorial Day through Christmas.  We also send out a monthly newsletter to over 7,000 recipients, chock full of news about our members and information about upcoming events.
  • The chamber offers your business various co-operative advertising opportunities in prominent publications at a reduced rate.  Including, but not limited to the following:

    2017 Visitor’s Region Guide: The 130-page glossy spread is chock-full of expanded editorial, 237 “Things to Do” in our Boothbay Harbor region, 293 regional business listings and over 100 advertisements, reflecting an expanding and thriving economic region!!! In past years, nearly 100,000 guides were distributed to over 11 states ( CT, KY, ME, MA, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI and VT); the AAA Travel Show; Chambers statewide; local Chamber members and the downtown information center; the Maine Tourism Association, visitor centers; train stations; airports and several other public locations statewide and beyond. This year the guide also will be dropped off at the Maine Turnpike and at the Portland International Jetport airport. 6,000 guides were mailed out this year in response to online requests.

    Down East Magazine: People who love Maine love Down East. Every month they distribute 51,000 copies of Down East magazine throughout Maine and they also send out another 50,000 copies out-of-state to a loyal list of paying subscribers that vacation in Maine.

    Portland Monthly: Portland Monthly Magazine has distribution of 100,000 readers each month. We encourage members to take advantage of advertising to Portland's broadaudience of discerning readers throughout the year.   • Come and Visit Us at the Visitor Center!

    Referrals:  Our staff personally recommends members businesses via telephone, e-mail, website requests or walk-ins to visitors, other businesses and residents.  The chamber staff can only refer businesses that are members of the chamber. During the year, the Chamber promoted the Boothbay region of Maine for Tourism and Industry and maintained a regional information center for the General Public. There were approximately 33,000 mailings, over 10,000 visitations.

    Downtown Information Center: For an additional fee, the Chamber also operates a Downtown Information Center, located in the heart of Boothbay Harbor, and open during the summer season. Several businesses contract for display space at the center. You are welcome to pick up a Region Guide and Walking Map, additional tourism material to enhance your visit and use the computer locked to the Chamber’s web site. The center is extremely popular with visitors and an asset to the entire membership.

    Brochures, Binders, and Menus, Posters & Business Cards Displayed:  Members can prominently display their business cards, brochures, posters, rack cards, vacation rentals, menus etc. in the main Chamber Office, located on Townsend Avenue for free!  If you are interested in being featured at the Downtown Information Center please contact your Visitor and Member Relations Coordinator at luise@boothbayharbor.com to discuss how the Chamber can promote your organization and or business for an additional fee.

    Interactive Video Screen that features the chamber’s website so we can direct visitors to member businesses. Free Wi-Fi hot spot.

    Conference Room:  We offer complimentary use of our conference room on a first come-first served basis for up to 12 people with the use of a conference phone.

    Boothbay Harbor Region Guide:  Over 100,000 printed annually.  Members only are allowed to advertise in this widely distributed guide. The Guides are on display at the Chamber office – Visitors Center and at the Downtown Visitor Center.

    Buy Local Campaign:  Member-to-Member savings.  Encourage other members to use your services or shop at your place of business. Many members extend discounts to other members.

    New Improved Website!: Take advantage of our new user-friendly website with a direct link to your listing and website as well as a google map that allows visitors to access your exact location and contact information. Our new website also allows you to control your listing and make updates 24/7! Great for adding events, specials or last minutes changes! An enhanced listing includes up to twelve photos or videos of your business and your business can be listed in as many categories as you like.

    Website Advertising: For only $250 a month your business can be featured on the landing page of our website which reaches over a half a million people annually. There are also advertising opportunities on the internal landing pages of the chamber website and you can market directly to the audience interested in your category.

    Business After Hours is a great way to network with other Chamber members and learn more about other member businesses. or showcase your business. This summer the Chamber hosted eleven Business After Hours events with an average attendance of over 70 people. As a member, you can host one of these great events at your place of business.

    Brochure Display & Referral Service: The Visitor Center at the Chamber offices displays your business brochures and rack cards and acts as a referral service to visitors, other members and residents. The Chamber staff can only refer businesses that are members of the Chamber.

    Weekly "Chamber Connections": The chamber sends out a weekly e-news to members, Friends of the Chamber, Government Officials, and local businesses. The e-news announces new members, membership news, upcoming events, Maine State Business Issues, Legislative Updates, local news and announcements. The weekly e-news reaches over 900 readers.

    Weekly "Monthly Chamber Newsletter": The chamber sends out a monthly newsletter to over 7500 readers who are interested in what’s happening in our region. This newsletter is focused more on events and things to do and is a great way to announce member specials!

    Customized Individual Email E-Blasts: We are excited about this new member benefit! For a small fee, you can reach the 7500 readers of our Monthly newsletter through a customized ad announcing your special! This has been a very popular new benefit!

    Social Media: The Chamber is actively involved in social media and we post and share member news daily.

    Region Guide and Region Map: – Members only can advertise in this widely distributed (100,000 circulation) guide book. The Region Guide is on display at our office, state and visitor centers; other chamber offices and information centers in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont. We mail them in bulk to tour companies; auto clubs; cruise lines, and consumer travel shows
    and wedding venues. We also mail the guide to thousands of visitors who request them via our website. Our Region Guide is the second most widely distributed guide in the state.
    The Chamber prints and distributes 45,000 region maps every year. Members can have their businesses featured on the walking map, which lists your business via ad placement and graphically shows your business’s location on the map. It is a great tool to show our visitors exactly where your business is located.

    Free Listing: Members receive a free listing in our Relocation and Wedding packets, which are mailed upon request from the Chamber offices.

    Mailing Lists and Labels: Members may request lists of visitors to our website weekly, with names, addresses, and services visitors are interested in, or pre-printed mailing labels. Every member receives a free one-time use of the chamber’s email list to market your business. We email your message through our Constant Contact list.

    Free Design Services: during off season, the Chamber is happy to help members design ads,email blasts and help answer questions about Facebook or Instagram. We are here to help you promote your business.

    Chamber Chats: During the winter months, the Chamber hosts Chamber Chats as a way to reach out to segments of the business community and learn more about their businesses and the services
    hey offer. Last year we hosted Chamber Chats for the Marine Industry and for Health and Wellness. The Chamber encourages its members to suggest ideas for Chamber Chats.

    Workshops: The Chamber partners with a variety of business professionals to present workshops and forums. They are all focused toward the needs of your company. Increasing the bottom line for member businesses is always the primary motivation behind our trainings. All workshops are either free, or offered at a reduced cost to Chamber members.

    Sponsorships: the Chamber holds a number of events and fundraisers (Claw Down, Harbor Lights, Boothbay Festival of Light, Sculpture Trail and our Annual Community Awards Dinner) throughout the year. These are all opportunities to support the Chamber as a sponsor and promote your business!
