Boothbay Region Historical Society 56th annual meeting
The public and members of the society are invited to attend the 56th annual meeting of the Boothbay Region Historical Society at the Reed House, 72 Oak St., Boothbay Harbor on Tuesday, May 16 at 4:30 p.m. In-house seating is limited. The doors will open at 4:10. Our guest speaker program will be recorded and available at a later date on our YouTube channel.
During the year-end business meeting, the membership will vote on the following slate submitted by the nominating committee. Accepting renomination to the board for three-year terms are Sarah Giles and John Morris. Accepting nomination for a new three-year term is Lucian Laurie Jr. Nominated to fill open two-year terms are Julia O’Brien-Merrill and V. Skye Wood. Nominated for the offices of president, vice president, secretary and treasurer are Dana Wilson, Merritt Blakeslee, Wendy Bellows, and Sarah Giles, respectively.
Following the business portion of the meeting, local ship modeler Jon Dunsford will present models he has built that recall the era of Boothbay shipbuilding from 1823 to 1855. Who built these vessels? What was their purpose? Kathy Goldner will introduce us to some of the captains highlighted in the society’s current exhibit “Captains and Vessels of the Boothbay Region, 1800 to 1921.” Kathy and Jon will also preview a new exhibit, “Celebrating Bowdoin!” that will open prior to the June arrival of this iconic vessel.
