Lighthouse Education & Nautical Studies (LENS) is a non-profit, 501(c)3, whose mission is to research, retrieve, and record our nation’s maritime history in order to provide educational materials, programs, and services focused on lighthouses and our maritime history.

Summer Camp Sponsorship
LENS has adopted the Boothbay Region Schools providing local children with experiential learning at the Burnt Island Light Station. During the six sessions of summer camp, over 120 students learn about lighthouses, maritime and navigational topics, and flora and fauna in the rocky shore, beach, mudflat, and forest ecosystems due to our organization’s sponsorship. Funding is also available to three local schools for spring and fall fieldtrips to Burnt Island.
