Owned by Mary Linda Rapelye, this historical landmark built in the 1850’s, is deeply rooted in Midcoast Maine’s agricultural heritage. While working in New York as an actress on “One Life To Live” and “As the World Turns” (www.marylindarapelye.com or imdb) Mary Linda made frequent visits to her family’s summer home in Boothbay Harbor and she fell in love with the area. Ironically, she had played Irina Galliulan, Chekov’s girlfriend on Star Trek’s “The Way to Eden” in which she fought to preserve a more natural life in the face of the onset of an increasingly technological and artificial culture, and in 1971 she helped with Boothbay Harbor’s early bottling recycling program operated out of the Parsonage garage on Road’s End. Today, she happily visits the Boothbay Transfer Station, fondly and erroneously called “THE DUMP” (because things don’t stop there!). She adamantly assures our facility is better and more environmentally friendly than any in California! In 1999, she purchased the old farmhouse and property on Dover Road the with the idea to preserve, not only a quickly disappearing way of life but also the health of the ecosystem.
Certified by MOFGA, this small but hearty farm, with over 48 different animals and organic produce, has committed itself to provide healthy organic goods in an environment that fosters education and innovation. And to set an example of self-sufficiency and sustainability of small landowners. Through partnerships with the community, Lyric Meadow Farm is excited to remain an integral part of the varied Maine landscape by offering diverse programs, as well as sharing the experience as an event venue. Come grow with us!
