Say I Do! in the Boothbay Harbor region

The Boothbay Harbor Region is conveniently located a scenic hour from Portland and offers the perfect mix of history, natural beauty, rustic charm and friendly local flavor to appeal to any wedding style. In 2013, just over 9,500 couples said their vows in the Pine Tree State, and just over 1,500 of them – about 16% - were same-sex couples, who tied the knot after same-sex marriage was made legal in Maine on December 29, 2012.

You’ll find classic New England steeple churches and chapels, an abundance of lovely B&BS, resorts, hotels, inns and restaurants as well as all the services necessary to provide for, and assist with, the event.

From personal care to photographers, bands to DJs, flowers to tuxedos, our region has what you will need.

Exchange your vows at a 200 year old stone chapel with a breathtaking view of the rocky Midcoast or at a simple yet elegant church. Maybe a gazebo overlooking a coastal park and Linekin Bay is more your style or you could choose to tie the “nautical” knot at a marina or a lighthouse.

You could also get married at a country club or amid acres of ornamental gardens, sculptures and water features.

The possibilities are just as plentiful for picturesque reception venues, ranging from all-inclusive resorts and spas to a historic rustic lodge nestled among tall pines high above the harbor. For a more intimate wedding experience, consider a waterfront cottage rental or indulge in the ultimate Maine coast wedding experience complete with a private island, boat transportation and lobsters!

There is an abundance of wonderful boutiques, jewelry stores and galleries if you need gifts and party favors, some with unique “Made-in-Maine” items including handmade chocolates and treats. Local bakers can create a cake that is as unique as you are, and talented caterers can provide anything from rustic Maine favorites to contemporary gourmet cuisine.

For transportation for the wedding party and/or guests we have a number of taxis, trolleys, trains, limos, antique cars and boats at your service.

For the rehearsal dinner try something different such as an island lobster bake or a soiree around a heated salt water pool by the shore. Share the delights of the peninsula with your guests who can enjoy a variety of local activities such as hiking on a myriad of trails, attending Broadway quality musicals and plays, listening to a concert, boating, sailing or whale watching, or visiting museums with live sea animals, functioning narrow-gauge trains and shipbuilding artifacts.
