“What do you all do in the Winter?”

After the busy buzzing of the holidays, winter can provide hours of quiet reflection and the chance for serenity. While we locals do hunker down for a bit during the odd blustery nor’easter, tend to our woodpile, and shovel the walkways, we also thoroughly enjoy our region in the so-called “off-season”.
Some snow days are meant for slowly perusing local shops and galleries,  or snowshoeing, across a snowy field and wondering at the milky way above. The stars just seem brighter in Maine!
Longing for a quiet quaint getaway, where you can cozy up with a great read, and unplug from the world for a bit while still having all the creature comforts? Click here to explore our Winter Lodging
Bundle up and head out on a wintery hike to commune with nature: Boothbay Harbor Land Trust trails are open to the public, year-round, free of charge. Properties include woodlands, wetlands, salt marshes, islands, seabird and wading bird habitats, and feeding areas for migratory birds. Maybe we’ll get a return of the Stellar’s Sea Eagle!

Do you still get out on the water in the winter? Absolutely! Our region is beautiful any time of year, and you’ll get a great view from the water. Take a Harbor Tour or Private Sightseeing adventure with Charger Sports Fishing – and enjoy the breathtaking coastline from their new cozy heated cabin before heading back for browsing shops, galleries,  Restaurants & Breweries in Boothbay Harbor.

What about the music scene? You can always catch a great performance at the Historic Opera House which is open for year-round entertainment.
Of course, if you’re planning to visit during warmer months you’ll want to request a FREE REGION GUIDE so you can plan out your perfect Maine vacation.
